Description
The Freedom Machine was founded in April 1975 by Paul Chaleyer and James Byrne with the intention of selling only the highest quality bikes.
At that time the only brands that the business sold were Raleigh, Gitane and Peugeot.
The business was sold in 1978 to Trevor Spry who had it until 1988 when Adrian Curnow took over. The family company still owns the name and is a major shareholder in each of the stores. Freedom Machine went multi-store in 2003 with the opening of a second store in Chapel St. Prahran.
